I started my career as a qualified accountant.
My family, who were mostly successful accountants themselves, were proud of my achievements. However, I have a little secret to share with you – accounting was never my passion, and it didn’t fulfill me.
Looking back, it’s amusing how sad I was at that point in my life. I felt pathetic for not being able to choose the course I wanted. I began blaming my family for pushing me into it (despite the best intention). I felt powerless.
It wasn’t until my brother, who had always been my mentor, helped me see that I had a choice. I had chosen to be obedient.
That was the first A-ha moment in my life.
I realized that I didn’t have to accept the narrative of being a victim. I have to own up to my decision, I have the power to take control of my life and create my own path.
Through this journey of self-discovery and personal growth, I realized that I wanted to help others do the same. I wanted to empower people to take control of their lives, to be at cause rather than just being a victim of circumstance. That’s why I became a coach – to help others discover their own A-ha moments and start living the life they truly desire.
My journey has taught me that every decision we make, no matter how small, can have a profound impact on our lives. We can start by being more mindful on the three decisions:
1. Your decisions about what to focus on.
2. Your decisions about what things mean to you.
3. Your decisions about what to do to create the results you desire.
These decisions would begin to sculpt your experience and thereby determine your ultimate destiny.
